The Audiology MSci course offered by the University of Southampton is a four-year degree program. This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work with patients who have hearing and balance difficulties, incorporating practical and theoretical learning methods. Course Content: The program combines classroom teachings with a significant amount of work placements to provide students with considerable practical exposure. The program content is covered across modules related to understanding the auditory system, audiological diagnostic strategies, and audio-vestibular sciences, among others. The fourth year of study focuses on advanced audiological studies, professional clinical practice, as well as a research project related to the field.Key Modules: Key modules in the course include Introduction to Audiology, Anatomy and Physiology for Audiology, Audiology Practice and Process, Diagnostic Audiology, and Rehabilitation in Audiology. In the final year, students will complete a research project and are also offered optional modules such as Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Sleep and Circadian Timing, or Language & the Brain.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). On successful completion, students will be eligible to register as a hearing aid dispenser with the Health and Care Professions Council.Future Careers: Graduates from this programme often find work as diagnostic and rehabilitation audiologists within the NHS or private sector. Some graduates also venture into pediatric audiology or become balance specialists.
