The BA Archaeology degree at the University of Southampton provides in-depth knowledge of human history dating back to human origins, ancient civilisations and global archaeology. Throughout the course, students are given the opportunity to participate in archaeological excavations, which helps to enhance their practical skills in the field.Course Content: The course is uniquely structured and offered in Single Honours, Joint Honours, and Major or Minor. In the first year, students gain an overview of world archaeology, exploring how societies changed from hunter-gatherers to the urban civilizations. In the second and third years, they specialize in Egypt and Near Eastern archaeology or Europe from the inception of agriculture to medieval times.
