The Ancient History with Year Abroad (BA) at the University of Southampton combines the study of ancient history with the opportunity to spend a year overseas, studying or working. The program offers an in-depth understanding of the ancient world, its politics, culture, and people from different perspectives, including archaeology, art, history, literature, philosophy, and religion.Course Content: The program covers the entire expanse of Ancient History, from the history of Egypt, Greece, and Rome, to the study of ancient religions, cultures, and the nature of power in the ancient world. Students also study ancient languages, literature in translation, and a range of other subjects relating to the ancient world.Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course include Ancient Rome: the First Metropolis, Power and Politics in the Roman Empire, From Alexander to the Augustans, Egypt and the Classical World, the Fall of the Roman Empire, plus a range of modules outlining the civilisations of Greece, Rome, and their near eastern neighbours.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the University of Southampton, a world-class, research-led University, ranked in the top 100 universities globally.Future Careers: Graduates from this program go on to a variety of careers, including teaching, museums and heritage, law, banking, media, business and government.
