Beng Electrical Engineering

The BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree at the University of Southampton develops students' understanding of the theory and practice of electrical and electronic engineering, to help tackle global challenges. The course offers the opportunity to study modules such as Energy Resources & Generation and Control & Communication, and gain cutting-edge industry insights from leading professionals.Course Content: In the first two years, students study topics in electrical and electronic engineering such as circuit theory, signal processing, analogue and digital electronics, control systems, and communication theory. In the third year, students can purse advanced topics and select from a wide range of optional modules from different specialist areas. Students are also expected to complete a major individual project and a group design project, working in teams to solve problems proposed by industry.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include Electrical Materials, Circuit Theory, Digital Systems and Microprocessors, Control and Communication, Energy Conversion for Electrical Systems, High Voltage Systems and Professional Engineering Skills.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: Graduates of this course can potentially work in a variety of sectors including telecommunications, power generation, marine, public sector, and automation industries.
