Beng Aeronautics and Astronautics

The Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton combines the study of aerospace with the principles of engineering practices. The course makes it possible for students to solve complex aeronautic problems using a solid foundation of engineering disciplines.Course Content: The course content includes compulsory basic and specialist modules to develop students’ understanding of the principles of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The first two years cover the engineering foundation subjects. In the third year, students spend half the year working on an individual project.Key Modules: The key modules in this BEng degree include Aerodynamics, Aeronautics and Astronautics Design, Aircraft Propulsion, Aircraft Structures, Astronautics, Spacecraft Design, Avionics, and others offered by the university curriculum.Accreditations: This degree is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The accreditation satisfies the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng (Hons) undergraduate first degree.Future Careers: The course prepares students for a range of careers in aerospace, advanced design, the automotive sector, energy, transport, building services, and construction.
