MSci Mathematics with Statistics

The Mathematics with Statistics MSci (Hons) is a four-year course offered by Lancaster University. The program seeks to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematics complemented by advanced abilities in statistical analysis.Course Content: The program begins with an assessment of students' existing knowledge and understanding in order to tailor their first year studies accordingly. Core modules cover subjects such as calculus, algebra, and probability among others. Over the next few years, students will be introduced to more advanced mathematical and statistical techniques. This will include modules in areas like operational research, linear algebra, continuum mechanics, and mathematical biology, among others. In the final year, students take on a research project and can choose from a wide range of optional modules.Key Modules: Key modules you will study include Algebra, Analysis, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Techniques, Numbers and Relations, Probability and Statistics, as well as Various reinforced learning Year 1 modules, which are available as optional modules.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Royal Statistical Society and provides graduates with the professional training necessary to pursue a career as a Statistician.Future Careers: Students graduating from this course have gone onto a range of careers, such as in banking, the Civil Service, the pharmaceutical industry, and management consultancy.
