The Biomedicine MSci (Hons) at Lancaster University is a four-year course that offers an integrated, scientifically rigorous exploration of human health and disease. Students will get an in-depth knowledge of human physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and neuroscience, among other areas of biomedicine. The course has a strong commitment to practical learning aimed at enhancing technical skills in biomedical science and is designed to equip students with the qualities needed in a range of careers from medical and health-based sciences to educational careers.Course Content: The course is structured into multiple modules based on various aspects of biomedicine. The first year introduces students to the building blocks of life and then proceeds to build on this foundation in the second and third years with an in-depth focus on human physiology, homeostatsis, receptors & cellular signalling, metabolism, and molecular genetics. The final year involves a research project culminating in a masters level dissertation.Key Modules: Human Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Metabolism, Cellular & Molecular Pathology, Medical Microbiology, Cancer Science, Immunology, Neuroscience.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting with the educational requirement for Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Future Careers: This course prepares students for a number of career paths such as work in hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, bioscience-related research in laboratories or pursue further studies to qualify as a clinical scientist, biochemist, medical writer, amongst others. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
