BSc (Hons) Pharmacology (Study Abroad)

The Pharmacology Study Abroad BSc Hons at Lancaster University is a uniquely designed programme that allows students to intensely study the field of pharmacology while also gaining international exposure. The course focuses on understanding the effects of drugs on the human body, with a specific emphasis on developing new medicines.Course Content: The course content spans over four years in total wherein the first year offers a solid foundation of knowledge on key biological principles, including cell biology, genetics, the biochemistry of complex living organisms, and the physiology of animals. In the second year, students develop their knowledge of Pharmacology and get an introduction to studies in the immune system and neuroscience. The third year is spent studying abroad, and the final year offers students the opportunity to select from a range of specialist pharmacology modules and undertake a pharmaceutical research project.Key Modules: Key modules include Cell Structure and Function, Genetics, Biochemistry, Fundamental Pharmacology, Systematic Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics and Drug Development, Signal Transduction, Human Physiology, Immunology, and Neuropharmacology.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting, in part, the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist.Future Careers: The course equips students to excel in a range of sectors including pharmaceutical industries, health organizations, research institutions, and more.
