The Environmental Science MSci Hons is an undergraduate course offered by Lancaster University. This four-year integrated masters program equips students with the knowledge and the skills to solve environmental problems from a multidisciplinary perspective. Studying both natural and social sciences, students will learn to design sustainable solutions to issues affecting the environment today.Course Content: The course includes and is built on three years of undergraduate studies, followed by an advanced final year comprising independent project work, specialized modules, and teaching at masters-level. The program has been designed to encourage and develop a deeper understanding, and challenge students to form, research, and communicate their own ideas. Key Modules: During the first year, students study subjects like Earth Systems, Ecological Systems, Geographical Skills, and Global Environmental Challenges. In the second year, there are modules in Methods in Human Geography, Climatology, and Geographical Research in the Field. The third year includes, among others, Lake, Coast and Ocean Systems, Environmental Remote Sensing and Global Change, Soil Systems, and Sustainability. The students’ final year comprises modules in Environmental Assessment, Land, and Water Management, and Research in Progress.Accreditations: The Environmental Science MSci Hons program offered by Lancaster University is accredited by the Institution of Environmental Sciences and The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.Future Careers: Graduates from this program have been successful in securing jobs in various fields such as environmental management, conservation, academia, the public and private sector, transport and tourism, and teaching.
