The Geography BSc (Hons) programme, offered by Lancaster University, is a comprehensive course that enables students to explore, in depth, the physical and human dimensions of this ever-evolving subject. Students will learn from a group of experts experienced in global climate patterns, volcanism, biodiversity, conservation, sustainable development, and urban regeneration.Course Content: The course content is split into three key years. In the first year, students will be introduced to Human and Physical Geography, with topics such as Climate Change, Glacial Landscapes, Population, Development and the City. In the second year, students will cover modules including Floods, Glaciers, Cities, and Societies. In the final year, students will undertake an independent dissertation alongside a range of optional modules covering different elements of Geography.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include Climate Change: Science and Society, Biogeography: understanding distributions of species; Development: principles and practices; and Earth Systems Science. Others include Environment and Culture, Geographical Information Systems, Social and Cultural Geography, and Geomorphology. Accreditations: This course is Accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) for the purpose of recognising the achievement of the QAA subject benchmark for Geography.Future Careers: The Transferable skills that students gain during this course make employment possibilities wide-ranging.
