The Biochemistry (Study Abroad) BSc (Hons) course at Lancaster University is a four-year course that can help students develop a deeper understanding of the biology of organisms. Students have the opportunity to study abroad for a whole academic year in one of the University’s partner institutions, which can be in Europe, North America, Asia, Australasia, or South America. Course Content: The course is comprehensive, exploring topics like DNA and gene expression, enzymes and metabolism, proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates. It also covers topics like cells and organisms, immunology, systems physiology, and biodiscovery. The course aims to help students gain laboratory skills and develop their understanding of biological systems. Key Modules: Key modules in the first year include Skills for Biochemists, Biochemical Techniques, and Genetics. There is also a School science project. In the second year, students study Protein Structure and Function, Membrane Biochemistry, and Molecular Genetics among others. In the final year, students are required to complete a Biochemistry research project. Future Careers: Graduates of this course are well-equipped to enter a range of professions, but particularly those in the science and health sectors.
