The Biochemistry MSci Hons course offered by Lancaster University is a four-year, full-time integrated Master's program. The course provides in-depth knowledge of the chemical concepts underlying biological systems. Students in this course will spend their third year studying abroad or doing industry placements and will focus on an individual research project in the fourth year.Course Content: The course begins with foundations in biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and other related disciplines. Over the course of the programme, advanced modules will provide insight into a variety of areas including protein structure and function, metabolic diseases and molecular genetics. In the third year, students can choose to study abroad or carry out placements in industries. The fourth year is predominantly spent on an extended individual research project.Key Modules: The key modules include Biological Chemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Proteins, Enzymes and Metabolism, Molecular Biology and DNA Technology, Cellular Signalling and Transport, Advanced Topics in Biomedical Sciences, Project and Dissertation, among others.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.Future Careers: This course offers a solid foundation for a variety of careers in scientific research, medical professions, the pharmaceutical industry, forensics, or roles that combine science with law, policy or business.
