The Mechatronic Engineering BEng (Hons) course at Lancaster University combines the principles of mechanics, electronics and computing to generate simpler, more economical and reliable systems. The course offers a problem-solving and design-led experience with a comprehensive understanding of modern day mechatronics. It aims to equip students with the theoretical and practical experience necessary to design, construct and operate a wide range of engineering systems.Course Content: This involves the use of advanced simulation tools and understanding of systems along with the availability of hardware components in design and prototype production. Students will also undertake a team project to gain experience in managing a substantial, realistic and holistic project from the problem definition stage to the achievement of stated objectives.Key Modules: The modules cover a wide range of engineering disciplines such as Mechanics, Electronics, Programming, Energy Systems, Thermodynamics and Fluids, Engineering Mathematics and Computing, Control Engineering, and Materials and Manufacture.Accreditations: The programme is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) as fully satisfying the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer.Future Careers: Graduates of this course are equipped to work in various sectors within mechanical, electronic, electrical engineering, control systems, automation and robotics. They are suited to roles within design, solutions provision, product development or project management, among others. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
