The Chemical Engineering BEng (Hons) at Lancaster University is an undergraduate course designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required to become a professional chemical engineer. This 3-year programme focuses on the design, operation, analysis, and optimisation of chemical processes, both industrial and biological. Course Content: The syllabus draws extensively on Chemistry and Mathematics to understand and describe Chemical Engineering in areas such as Energy, Pharmaceuticals, Petrochemicals, Food, and Materials. Students get the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios through group projects and field trips. The final year includes a comprehensive individual project which reflects their mastery of chemical engineering.Key Modules: Whilst all first-year modules are compulsory, students have the flexibility to choose from multiple elective modules in the second and third year. Some of these include Science A, Science B, Process Principles, Analytical and Physical Chemistry, and Maths For Science.Accreditations: The course has been accredited by the IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers) to fully meet the academic requirement for becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng).Future Careers: Graduates of this course have moved on to work for major multinational companies in roles such as project management, process development, and technical consultancy.
