The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics BA (Hons) program offered by Lancaster University is a multidisciplinary course that integrates three subjects which are powerful tools for critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving. This degree equips students with skills and insights from across the humanities and social sciences, training them in the rigorous intellectual skills to understand, analyze and evaluate complex phenomena.Course Content: This course is organized into three streams: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, with equal amounts of time dedicated to each. In the first year, students study modules in all three disciplines and then they have the flexibility to specialize their interest in later years. In Philosophy, students will study problems of knowledge and reality; in Politics, students explore crucial contemporary issues and institutions; in Economics, students learn key economic concepts, theories and techniques. Key Modules: The key modules in the first year include Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Politics and International Relations, Introduction to Economics, and Mathematics and Data Analysis(optional). Other modules of the course include Ethics, Political Philosophy, Foundations of Western Political Thought, Theory and Data in Economics, Introduction to Comparative Politics, Understanding Politics, and Research Techniques.Future Careers: Graduates have found employment in diverse areas such as finance, government and public services, diplomatic services, media and journalism, business and industry, and education.
