BA (Hons) Linguistics and Philosophy

The Linguistics and Philosophy BA (Hons) course offered by Lancaster University is a three-year long undergraduate programme that allows students to explore how language works, how we learn it and use it, and the role it plays in our world. It combines the art of philosophy with the science of linguistics to answer big questions about ourselves and the nature of human reality. Course Content: The first year offers an introduction to Linguistics and Philosophy in general. From the second year onwards, students can choose from a range of modules depending on their individual interests. The course also offers an independent study in third year which allows students to conduct in-depth research on subjects that interest them. Key Modules: Some of the modules students can choose from include Phonetics, Forensic Linguistics, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language, Syntax and Semantics, to name a few.
