BA (Hons) Global Religions and Philosophy (Study Abroad)

The Global Religions and Philosophy Study Abroad BA (Hons) at Lancaster University is an exciting course that offers students an opportunity to engage with diverse cultures and religions from across the world. It is a comprehensive degree programme that spans classic, western philosophical traditions to Eastern and Far Eastern religious philosophies. In addition, part of the degree programme involves studying abroad for a year which enriches the learning experience while boosting academic and personal development.Course Content: The course explores vast content stretching over Western traditions, including existentialism, empiricism, and rationalism. It likewise navigates through Eastern and Far Eastern religious philosophies, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. Furthermore, students will have opportunities to study ancient Greek thoughts and their influence on the Christian Bible, among other themes. The third year of this study involves a year abroad to any linked institutions worldwide, deepening connections to global religions and philosophies.Key Modules: Throughout the course, students are set to take on several modules. During the first year, pupils venture through 'Philosophy and the Good Life,' 'Introduction to Buddhism,' and 'Introduction to Hinduism.' For the second year, they will start to specialize whilst learning about 'Religion in the Modern World' and 'Scripture and Ethics in World Religions.' On the third year, it is devoted exclusively to study abroad. Lastly, final year modules are on 'Religion and Violence,' 'Philosophy of Religion,' and 'Religious Ethics,' to name a few.Future Careers: Students who complete this course can look forward to a wealth of career opportunities. They may choose to work in various sectors, such as publishing, public service, the charity sector, or education.
