BA (Hons) German Studies and Mathematics

The German Studies and Mathematics BA (Hons) course offered by Lancaster University is a dual honours programme that provides an immersive balance between two distinctive yet complementary disciplines. Students enrolled in this programme will gain not just language skills, but also gain an understanding of a diverse range of German literature, history and culture, alongside developing a strong foundation in several branches of mathematics.Course Content: The first year consists of foundational elements in Mathematics and German. In German studies, students will improve their language skills and gain insights into the culture and society of German-speaking countries. In Mathematics, students will focus on pure mathematics, probability and statistics, and calculus. In the second year, students will deepen their understanding of these subjects through more extensive studies. The final year includes an independent study project in German, German linguistics or a German literature topic.Key Modules: The key modules for this course include; German Language: Beginners, Elementary German Language, Calculus, Statistics, Probability, Linear Algebra, Sets and Numbers, Vectors and Mechanics, German Studies, German Literature and Culture, German History and Ideas, and German Linguistics.Future Careers: Graduates from this programme have a wide range of career options available to them.
