The German Studies and English Literature (BA Hons) RQ23 course at Lancaster University offers students the unique opportunity to study the German language and culture along with the wide-ranging field of English literature. Throughout the course, students are expected to immerse themselves in a variety of German literature, history, politics and other aspects of its culture while also exploring English literature from the Medieval period to the present day. Course Content: The course is divided into two primary divisions - German studies and English literature. In the first part, students will learn about German language, linguistics, culture, history, cinema and literature. The second division focuses on English literature including canonical authors and texts, along with topics like postcolonial literature, gender and sexuality studies, creative writing, and gothic literature. Key Modules: The course comprises a set of compulsory and optional modules in both disciplines. Key modules include 'Core German Language I', 'Core German Language II', 'Literature and Society', 'English Through Time', 'Hearing Literature: Soundscapes of Modernity', 'Modernism' and many more.
