The French Studies and German Studies BA (Hons) at Lancaster University is a comprehensive program that equips students with a strong understanding of the French and German languages, along with their histories, societies, and cultures. This course allows students to combine their studies with work or experience in either France or Germany, giving them a unique experience of studying abroad.Course Content: The course offers a blend of language modules to improve fluency and accuracy, and culture modules to study film, history, literature, politics and other aspects of French and German speaking societies. The first year gives a solid foundation in language skills alongside modules that introduce the students to contemporary France and Germany. In the second year, students focus on developing their language skills to a high level of proficiency and also study set texts in more detail. The final year allows students to specialize according to their individual interests in French and German subjects.Future Careers: French and German graduates pursue careers in sectors such as education, publishing, translating and interpreting, marketing and public relations, international organizations, media and hospitality industry.
