BA (Hons) English Language and German Studies

The English Language and German Studies BA (Hons) is a unique undergraduate course offered by Lancaster University. Combining the study of English language and German, this programme challenges students with diverse topics and opportunities to enhance their linguistic skills and understanding of both cultures.Course Content: The course is divided into three years with a myriad of exciting modules for each year. In the first year, students establish a firm foundation in English language and German while exploring elements of linguistics and society. The second year advances language study further, with students applying their knowledge in various thematic areas like World Englishes, Language in the Workplace, History of English etc. The final year allows personal exploration through a dissertation while also delving deeper into German film, the Second World War, gender and sexuality etc.Key Modules: The key modules of this course include Understanding Language 1, Academic Writing in Linguistics, Language Mythbusters in year-1. The German Language year-2, followed by German Culture and Society, Developing German Language Skills in year-3.Future Careers: After successfully finishing the course, graduates are prepared for a broad range of career paths.
