BA (Hons) English Language and Creative Writing (Study Abroad)

The BA (Hons) in English Language and Creative Writing (Study Abroad) at Lancaster University is a unique course that combines the in-depth study of the English language with the opportunity to foster and develop your creative writing skills. In addition to enhancing your writing skills, you will also study language in a historical and contemporary context. The course also provides you with a year studying abroad, broadening your academic and cultural experience.Course Content: The course is split across three years with a mix of compulsory and optional modules. Year 1 offers an introduction to linguistics and creative writing, and you will begin improving your writing skills. Year 2 deepens your understanding of individual authors, literary movements, periods, themes, and topics, while you develop your creative writing portfolio. A year abroad at one of Lancaster University's partner institutions will be there in your third year. Then the fourth year allows you to examine topics in English language and creative writing in more detail.Key Modules: Key modules include, for example, an Introduction to English Language, Introduction to Creative Writing, and English Sounds and Structures, Postcolonial Literatures, and Psychological Approaches to Language.Future Careers: The skills developed over this course prepares students for roles in journalism, publishing, marketing, public relations, academics, teaching, and more.
