BA (Hons) Design

Design BA (Hons) is a dynamic and engaging undergraduate course offered at Lancaster University. It offers students a flexible course structure where they can opt to study the course based on their areas of interest within design, which can range from Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, Speculative Design, to Design for Sustainability.Course Content: The course is designed to provide a broad understanding of design by offering introductions to a variety of design practices and their relevant contexts. It enables students to develop their creativity, critical thinking, visualisation, research and project management skills. The first year offers foundation skills and knowledge which are built upon in the second and third year where students can tailor the course to their interests. Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course include 'Design Studio', 'Contexts for Design', 'Design Process', 'Thinking through Making', 'Design for Services & UX', 'Interaction & UI Design', 'Design for Sustainability', 'Speculative Design', 'Critical Design and Policy', and 'Independent Project Design Research'.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD).Future Careers: The design thinking, visual communication, and project organisation skills developed in the course prepare students for a wide range of career paths. Graduates can aim for roles such as UX/UI Designer, Graphic Designer, Service Designer, Product Designer, or Design Researcher.
