BA (Hons) Chinese Studies and Spanish Studies

The Chinese Studies and Spanish Studies BA Hons (R4T1) at Lancaster University is an undergraduate course that offers a unique combination of two major world languages: Chinese (Mandarin) and Spanish. The course allows students to delve deeply into the history, culture, politics, and literature of both Spanish-speaking territories and China, providing a broad intellectual understanding that enhances linguistic proficiency. Course Content: The course includes fundamental language modules for both Chinese and Spanish. Students have the option to start on a beginners' or advanced pathway for Spanish. The first year includes core modules in both languages along with Introduction to Film Studies. In the second year, in addition to language modules, students can choose from a range of options reflecting the research expertise of staff in Chinese and Spanish. Topics could include twentieth-century Chinese history, modern Latin American cultures, and Spanish film. The final year allows students to integrate and apply all the knowledge, understanding, and skills accumulated from the previous years.
