The MA Ceramics course at the University for the Creative Arts is designed for students who wish to develop their skills, aesthetic sensibility, and intellectual enquiry in ceramics. This course allows them to explore ceramics as a discipline as well as a material medium within their own emerging practice.Course Content: This course is a blend of practical skills, critical reflection, and professional development. It provides students with a deep understanding of the subject, from experimental techniques and materials to the aesthetics of the object and beyond. Students can explore the potential of ceramics as a modern discipline and try to push these boundaries through their own unique exploration and understanding.Key Modules: The course comprises of four main modules - The Statement of Intent, Contextual Report, Resolution and Reflection. Statement of Intent is the initial project proposal outlining the intended area of study. Contextual Report revolves around a 5000-word report integrated into the body of the Statement of Intent project. In Resolution, students push ideas to their intended limit, and finally, Reflection involves evaluation and reflection on Resolution's completed work. Future Careers: Students are equipped for future success in their field with technical ceramics skills, thorough knowledge of the subject, and the ability to sustain an independent practice or to develop a scholarly or critical discourse.
