The MA Art & Writing course at UCA is a postgraduate program that offers students the opportunity to explore the multidisciplinary field of art writing. It aims to enable them to articulate and develop their artistic practices in relation to, and via, the written word.Course Content: The MA Art & Writing course provides a critical and theoretical framework to support the development of artistic practice alongside art writing. The course content enables students to explore a range of theoretical texts, methodologies, and art-writing strategies. The curriculum is driven by questions around what art writing can do and how it affects the perception of art. The course comprises two parts: in Part 1, students undertake three 30-credit units, and in Part 2, they undertake one 60-credit unit.Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as Studio Practice, Research and Enquiry, and Position and Argument, which are all part of Part 1. In Part 2, students take on the Final Major Project module.Future Careers: The MA Art & Writing course is ideal for those targeting a range of careers such as Artist, Writer, Art Critic, Curator, Lecturer, Publisher, Editor, or roles in Public Relations and Marketing within the creative industries.
