The BMus (Hons) Composition for Screen course offered by the University for the Creative Arts is designed to shape creative musicians into music producers and composers for the media industry. This course allows students to study the theory, production, and practical creation of music for media, including film, television, games, and sound installations.Course Content: The curriculum of the course includes learning a range of technologies and techniques, then transitioning to more specialized studies as progression happens throughout the course. Students will learn the practical creation of music for the latest media platforms, using the industry-standard technology including our state-of-the-art music recording studio, and practice rooms that include five grand pianos. Key Modules: Included in this course are modules that cover workstation skills, theory and languages of music, music and sound design for the screen, contextual and cultural perspectives among others. The second and final years of the course allow for more specialized study in areas such as interactive music, music for games, orchestration, conducting, and advanced screen music. Future Careers: This course prepares students for a career in a variety of fields. By studying this course, students could move into careers as composers for film, television, and games, as well as careers in recording studios, education, and live sound events.
