The BA Fashion Atelier (Tailoring) course offered by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) provides students the unique opportunity to concentrate on the art of tailoring. This programme emphasizes on the cultural and creative importance of precise tailoring skills to create beautifully constructed menswear and womenswear.Course Content: During the course, students will learn the refinement of precision cutting, fitting, construction techniques, attention to fine detail and suitable fabric selection. Over the hierarchy of three broad skill sets – pattern drafting, garment construction and tailoring techniques – they will produce one, two and multi-piece patterns in fabrics suitable for outerwear including lain and tweed cloths, cotton, wool, worsted suiting and lightweight worsted suiting.Key Modules: The key modules of this course include Introduction to Tailoring, Pattern Cutting, and Construction Techniques, Research & Experimentation, Situation & Solution, and Presentation & Communication.Future Careers: Graduates of this course could have potential careers in established high-end designer labels, Savile Row tailors, high street retailers, film and fantastic studios, wardrobe consultants, and freelance pattern cutters or even establish their own design label.For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
