The Healthcare Science BSc (Hons) course at Cardiff Metropolitan University is a three-year integrated programme that explores the role of healthcare scientists and specialist disciplines within the profession. This course is meticulously structured to ensure students gain the knowledge and skills essential for a healthcare scientist career in the NHS or other healthcare settings.Course Content: The course covers the varied disciplines of healthcare science including, but not limited to, genetics and genomics, cellular sciences, cardiovascular science, respiratory and sleep sciences, neurosensory sciences, and bioinformatics. The programme also includes a work-based learning component where students gain practical experience in a healthcare setting and develop the necessary employability skills.Key Modules: Some of the core modules include Foundations of Healthcare Science and Applied Biomedical Techniques in year one; specialist modules like Genetics & Genomics, Cellular Sciences, and Neurosensory Sciences in year two; and a work-based learning module and specialist modules in year three.Accreditations: The Healthcare Science BSc (Hons) course has been designed in conjunction with the NHS Wales and is fully accredited by the National School of Healthcare Science as part of Health Education England.Future Careers: On completion of the course, students will be equipped for a career as a healthcare scientist in fields such as the NHS, research institutions, and commercial organizations in roles such as biomedical scientists, genetic technologists, or audiologists.
