BA (Hons) English and Creative Writing

The BA (Hons) English and Creative Writing programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University combines the analysis of literature with the art of writing. It enables students to become analytical thinkers, effective communicators, and creative writers with a solid understanding of the English language and its literature.Course Content: The course content is structured into three years. The first year introduces students to various forms and periods of literature, along with the basics of creative writing. In the second year, students delve deeper into their study, interacting with more intricate aspects of literature and improving their writing skills. The third year provides them with high-level critical and creative abilities, encouraging independent study on chosen topics.Key Modules: There are core modules which include English Literature, Creative Writing, and Research Methods. The optional modules range from Romanticism, Modernism, The Contemporary Novel, and Playwriting to Children's Fiction, Teaching English, and Modern American Literature among others.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Higher Education Academy's English Subject Centre, and Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.Future Careers: This course extols its students to multiple future careers. These can be in publishing, advertising, marketing, writing or teaching, either in a primary, secondary or further education context.
