The BA (Hons) Artist Designer: Maker at Cardiff School of Art & Design combines the traditional disciplines of craftsmanship with a critical and contextual approach, providing an innovative approach to material and making. It encourages students to challenge the theoretical and practical boundaries of contemporary creative practice, thus promoting a multidisciplinary approach and supporting entrepreneurship.Course Content: The course places an emphasis on highly developed craft skills, innovative thinking, problem-solving and understanding of aesthetics. This is combined with studies in professional practice, which provides understanding of business and commerce as well as encouraging students to develop their own artistic persona. It encourages the view of an artist designer beyond the immediate object, to consider the social, economic and environmental impact.
