The Sustainable Energy and Environment MSc at Cardiff University is a full-time, one-year course designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of sustainable energy use and related environmental impacts. The course covers both the scientific background and the socio-economic implications of energy sustainability and examines both the technical aspects and the broader environmental issues involved.Course Content: The course combines taught elements with research work. Students undertake six modules in the two semesters and complete a project over the summer which involves the preparation of a substantial dissertation. The program is built around a set of core subjects and optional modules, allowing different energy-related themes to be explored in depth.Key Modules: Core modules include Energy & Environment, Climate Change & Energy Policy, Introduction to GIS & Remote Sensing, and Research Techniques & Analytics for MSc Science. Depending on students' personal interests, they can choose additional optional modules from Topics in Renewable Energy, Energy & Climate Change in the Built Environment, Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment, or Flood Risk Management.Accreditations: The MSc program is accredited by the Energy Institute (EI) under license from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council, which adheres to the requirements of further learning for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.Future Careers: Successful completion of this course could lead to employment in a broad range of sectors including academia, governmental and non-governmental organisations, engineering consultancies, environmental agencies, local government, and other public sector organizations.
