The Clinical Dermatology MSc at Cardiff University is a full-time, one-year course designed to prepare UK and international graduates for higher specialist training and consultant posts within dermatology. The course aims to provide graduates with the clinical and theoretical knowledge required in the modern practice of dermatology.Course Content: The course is primarily clinically based, with students spending the majority of their time observing and participating in outpatient clinics. The course also emphasises self-directed learning, and the application of this learning to patients in the clinical setting. Students will also undertake a research project which will provide them with valuable experience in both laboratory-based and clinic-based research.Key Modules: The key modules include Clinical Dermatology, Dermatopathology and Genomics in Medicine, and Dermatology Research Projects. In the Clinical Dermatology module, students will gain the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to manage common skin diseases. The Dermatopathology and Genomics in Medicine module will provide students with the expertise needed to understand the histopathology and genetic basis of skin disease. Finally, the Dermatology Research Projects module will give students the opportunity to gain experience in clinical research.Accreditations: This course is recognised for training purposes by the Specialist Advisory Committee in Dermatology.Future Careers: Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can progress to specialist training in dermatology, or consultant posts in the field.
