The MSc Building and Infrastructure Information Modelling (BIM) for Smart Engineering is a one-year full-time course offered by Cardiff University. It provides a comprehensive academic and professional training in Building Information Modelling (BIM) - a holistic process leveraging emerging technologies that are transforming the planning, design, construction, operation and management of buildings and infrastructure.Course Content: This master's course integrates contemporary technology and software with the theory and practice of project management and design/operational simulation under a unified BIM framework. The program is divided into two parts – taught modules and a research dissertation. Taught modules focus on both hard (technology-related) and soft (human-related) aspects of information management and modelling in construction projects. The dissertation allows students to work on their own choice of topic related to BIM for operational management or design and construction management.Key Modules: Key course modules include BIM Theory and Practice, Applying Building Performance Modelling for BIM, BIM for Project Management, and Role of Stakeholders in Successful BIM. Accreditations: The course is recognised as a globally leading academic base in BIM research and education in the UK and internationally. Future Careers: Graduate opportunities include roles in construction project management, consultancy, research and academia among others in the UK and overseas.
