BSc (Econ) Politics

The Politics BSc Econ course at Cardiff University provides an understanding of the key political issues, concepts, and methodologies that are necessary for examining the operation of power in society. Through real-world application of knowledge, students can analyze how power operates within society, how decisions are made, and how resources are distributed and contested globally. The course gives a comprehensive grounding in different theories and methods of political analysis, while allowing deeper exploration of specialist subjects. Course Content: The programme is structured in a way to provide a liberal arts education that prepares students for a variety of careers. In the first year, students will get the foundational knowledge necessary for the study of Politics and International Relations. They will be introduced to key issues, concepts, structures, and methodologies necessary for the examination of Politics. In the second year, core modules will introduce students to theories and methods of political analysis, providing a basis for more specialist subjects. In their final year, students will be offered a range of optional modules to enable them to specialize and deepen their knowledge.Accreditations: The course is recognized by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) which means it provides the relevant research training for doctoral study.Future Careers: Graduates from this course go on to work in a wide variety of sectors, playing significant roles in politics and government, law, media, the arts, public bodies and the third sector.
