The Criminology and Social Policy BSc is a full-time undergraduate degree program at Cardiff University. This course is deeply inter-disciplinary, blending areas of criminology and social policy, to provide a balanced perspective on critical issues such as crime and its impact on society, along with understanding the role of social policies in promoting the well-being of individuals and communities.Course Content: Throughout this course, students learn to analyse the causes and implications of various social problems, and the role of the state in addressing them. The programme also equips them with strong research skills to make evidence-based evaluations of policies for tackling crime and social problems.Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course include Crime and Society, Sociological Theory, Researching Crime and Society, and Understanding Social Policy. Along with these core modules, students have a choice to select from a range of optional modules in their second and final years.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Joint Social Policy Committee, representing the Social Policy Association, the British Sociological Association and the British Association of Social Workers. Students who graduate with a minimum lower second class honours will be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership by the British Psychological Society.Future Careers: This degree opens doors to a variety of career paths.
