The Mechanical Engineering BEng at Cardiff University is a full-time, three-year undergraduate course. The curriculum is designed to expose students to the wider spectrum of mechanical engineering, with a focus on core principles and techniques, and developing a strategic and business mindset in approaching engineering tasks and projects.Course Content: The course aims at providing students with strong foundational knowledge in mechanics, materials and manufacturing, design, thermodynamics, and fluids, and moving on to develop students' management skills. In the final year, students have the option to specialize in areas such as automotive engineering, advanced materials, and nuclear power. This is paired with a major individual project that contributes to one quarter of the final year's credits.Key Modules: Key modules covered during the course duration include: Mechanics of Solids, Design and Manufacture, Thermo-fluid Mechanics, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Analysis, and a Major Project in the final year.Accreditations: The Mechanical Engineering BEng is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: Graduates from this course have an excellent track record of securing roles with leading companies in sectors such as aerospace, automotive engineering, construction, energy, and public service utilities. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
