BA Welsh & Journalism

The Journalism and Welsh BA at Cardiff University is a three-year full-time course that combines practical journalism skills with a deep grounding in the Welsh language, literature, and culture. It aims to provide a wide understanding of journalism's role in society, while also equipping students with digital communication skills and expertise in Welsh.Course Content: The curriculum includes modules that cover theoretical perspectives on journalism, digital media platforms, investigative journalism, sports journalism, and bilingual journalism (Welsh and English). All these modules provide students with a mix of practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Key Modules: These include Introduction to Journalism Studies, Storytelling and Scripting, Newswriting and Reporting, Introduction to Media Law and Ethics, Bilingual Journalism, Welsh for Professionals, and Contemporary Welsh Literature. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), the Broadcasting Journalism Training Council (BJTC) and the Professional Publishers Association (PPA). Future Careers: Graduates from this course will be equipped for a variety of careers in journalism, the media, and communication sectors. They will be uniquely placed to contribute to the emerging field of Welsh media, but will also have the skills and knowledge to work in wider contexts, both nationally and internationally.
