The Politics and Spanish course at Cardiff University is an undergraduate degree that combines the study of Spanish language and culture with politics and international relations, providing a multi-dimensional understanding of global issues. It is a full time program for four years, including a year abroad studying or working in a Spanish-speaking environment. Course Content: The degree involves a comprehensive study of Spanish language and Hispanic cultures along with political theory, international relations, and the politics of specific countries. The course layout includes Spanish language classes at different levels to cater for those with no prior knowledge and those who wish to develop their language skills further. Students will gain a deep understanding of Hispanic culture, literature, linguistics, history, and politics. The course aims to build a broad understanding of the political world, covering areas such as voting behaviour, protests, relations between countries, and social and political ideas.Key Modules: Although the modules might change yearly, the first year normally includes Key Ideas in Politics, Contemporary Latin American Society, and Language (Spanish). From the second year onwards, students will study modules such as International Relations Theory, Political Thought, and the Politics and Policies of the EU, as well as Hispanic culture and Spanish language modules.
