BA German & Italian

The BA German and Italian course at Cardiff University will develop your language competencies and cultural understanding in both languages. With diverse areas of study including literature, linguistics, history, politics, business, and many more, by the end of the course, you will have become an independent researcher and critical thinker, and will be equipped for professional employment.Course Content: The program is full time, spanning over 4 years including a year abroad. The course consists of modules in both German and Italian language covering all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. In addition to language instruction, the curriculum provides a broad understanding of the culture, history, and society of Germany and Italy and the opportunity to specialize in areas including literature, linguistics, history, cinema and politics.Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as: German Language (Lower Intermediate), Italian Language (Beginners), and Cultures of the German-Speaking countries among others. In your third year, you will spend a minimum of 30 weeks in a country where your chosen language of study is spoken.Future Careers: On completion of this degree, graduates have progressed to careers such as translators, language teachers, and have also found employment in international organizations, the public sector, business and finance, education, and more.
