BA English Language & Spanish

The BA English Language and Spanish course offered by Cardiff University is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of lexicon, grammar, phonetics, and pragmatics, along with cognition, creative writing, discourse, and social issues. Additionally, learners are given the opportunity to extend their language skills and cultural knowledge by spending a year studying in a Spanish-speaking country.Course Content: During the course of this program, students will develop critical skills to enhance their understanding of diverse topics such as grammatical theory, sound structure, word structure, sentence structure, meaning, and variation. In addition, the course will also cover key areas of learning including essay writing, group presentations, and research projects.Key Modules: Some key modules include Introduction to Language and Society, sounds of English, structure of English, meaning in English, variation, and discourse in English. Spanish Language modules include Spanish Language Year 1 and Advanced Spanish Language Year 2.Future Careers: This course will equip graduates with the skills suitable for work in areas such as translation and interpretation, teaching, journalism and media. A significant proportion of graduates from this program go directly into business and finance, marketing, human resources, and management. Others opt for further study, or law conversion courses.
