The MSc Forensic Investigation course at the University of Portsmouth combines both practical skills and theoretical knowledge to train aspiring forensic investigators. By exploring simulated crime scenes, students will be able to learn and implement various investigative techniques. This course encourages a problem-solving approach to help students tackle complex forensic issues. Course Content: The course focuses on instilling a critical understanding of the effects of trauma on the human skeleton and degrading factors on the human body. It exposes students to the importance and significance of uncertainty in measurements and fosters the development of professional and academic skills relevant to forensic investigation. Key Modules: Students will study modules such as Foundations of Forensic Investigation, Specialist Topics in Forensic Investigation, and Forensic Anthropology: Core Skills, among others. In addition, there is also a research project and dissertation component.Accreditations: This course is drawn up in accordance with the Forensic Science Society (FSSoc) component standards for forensic anthropology, scene examination and laboratory analysis as part of their accreditation process.Future Careers: This course prepares graduates for a career in a variety of sectors like law enforcement and commercial companies.
