The LLM Law programme from the University of Portsmouth is a postgraduate taught course that fosters a comprehensive understanding of law from a variety of perspectives. It is a flexible course that allows students to tailor their studies according to their interests and career aspirations. Course Content: The LLM Law programme is divided into two teaching semesters (September to December and January to May) followed by a four month period for the dissertation. The first teaching block contains a 20-credit unit focused on developing research skills and research methodologies in law. The second teaching block offers a range of specialist and general units.Key Modules: Along with two indispensable units – Independent Research Project (LLM Dissertation) and Legal Research Skills and Methods, students are free to choose other units involving various aspects of law, including Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law, Banking and Financial Regulation, European Human Rights, and others.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Bar Standards Board which enables students to pursue careers such as a barrister in England and Wales after additional training. Future Careers: This course prepares students for a wide range of legal careers. Graduates find employment in various settings like, law firms, multinationals, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
