The BSc (Hons) Social Work undergraduate course at the University of Portsmouth is an opportunity for students to learn the values, skills, and knowledge needed to practice as a social worker. This course combines on-campus teaching with practical experience, preparing students for successful social work careers in a wide range of settings.Course Content: Throughout this degree, students will learn about the societal factors that influence people's lives and the ways that social work can make a difference. They'll study areas such as values and ethics of social work, human growth and development, law relating to social work, social work methods and theories, and social policy. They also have the opportunity to get involved in innovative projects like the Social Work book club or Social Work Film club.Key Modules: The course includes core modules such as Becoming a Social Worker, Social Work Law, and Social Work Practice. There are also optional modules such as Families and Child Care Law, and Integrated Adults and Children's Social Work Practice. Accreditations: At the end of this course, students will fulfill the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)'s standards of proficiency, becoming eligible to apply for Social Work professional registration.Future Careers: This course prepares students for a career in social work in a variety of settings.
