BSc (Hons) Marine Environmental Science 

The BSc (Hons) Marine Environmental Science is a degree program offered by the University of Portsmouth. This programme combines laboratory work, field trips and use of specialist software and provides a strong grounding in understanding the processes and forces that shape our coastal environments.Course Content: The programme is designed to cover various aspects of environmental science including key components like the geology that shapes the coastlines and seafloor, the physical processes driving coastal and oceanic waves, tides and currents, pollution and contamination in the marine environment; marine conservation, law and policy; use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for analysing and mapping environmental data; identification of marine flora and fauna.Key Modules: These are: Marine Landscape Evolution; Coastal Processes; Marine Geology and Geophysics; Marine Biology and Ecology; Marine Environmental Issues and Resources; Marine Vertebrates; Research Design and Practice; Marine Environmental Management.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES), and the Institution of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).Future Careers: As an Environmental Scientist, you can work in several fields like consultancy, local government, water companies and agencies, conservation, education, research, law, civil service, media, and technology, both in the UK and abroad.For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
