BSc (Hons) Earth Science 

The BSc (Hons) Earth Science course at the University of Portsmouth lets students gain an in-depth understanding of Earth's processes, structures, and the effects of its evolution on life. This course provides great breadth and specialisation to follow interests and career ambitions in Earth science, and allows you to tailor your studies to suit your ambitions and interests after the first year. Course Content: In the first year, students get to learn about underpinning and foundation of Earth Science. In the following years, the students can choose modules according to their interests. The course contains modules ranging from exploring earth’s processes and history, understanding the various phenomena such as earthquakes and volcanoes, and learning about Earth’s resources, including metals and hydrocarbons.Key Modules: Some of the key modules of this course are Earth Materials and Processes, Ecology and Environmental Management, Independent Research Project in Earth Science, Geological Mapping Training, Global Tectonics, Geological Hazards and their Human Impact.Accreditations: The course is accredited by The Geological Society, the recognised professional body for geoscientists.
