The BA (Hons) Journalism with Media Studies course offered by the University of Portsmouth equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the fast-paced media industry, combining practical journalism training with a detailed understanding of media theory.Course Content: The course content spans over three years with each year comprising of core and optional modules that students can pick from. The content focuses on exploring the role, influence and impact of the media on society, alongside developing practical skills in journalism.Key Modules: In the first year, modules include ICT for Media, News Writing, Reporting for different media platforms, and Influences on Media. As students progress, they can choose modules according to their interests and career aspirations, such as Applied Journalism, Newsroom Operation, Journalism and Democracy and Research for Writing.
