The BA (Hons) International Relations and Politics course at the University of Portsmouth is a 3 to 4 years full-time undergraduate program. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and influence the world. Students will learn about key issues affecting domestic and global politics and employ different approaches to address and resolve these issues.Course Content: The course content is divided into Core modules, Optional modules, and Year Abroad (optional). In the Core modules, students will examine political ideologies, explore the evolving nature of politics and international relations, and learn research methods and skills. Optional modules offer flexibility for students to explore topics like European Politics and Society, Understanding Activism, International Political Economy, Contemporary Security In Asia, Latin American Politics, and many more. A year abroad opportunity allows students to spend time studying at a foreign university.Key Modules: Modules include Introduction to International Relations and Politics, European Security: Threat Perception, and Response, The European Union: Politics and Policy, Global Governance and Globalisation, International Security: The Contemporary Agenda and more.Future Careers: Graduates from this program have pursued various career paths including roles within government and the civil service, teaching, and research positions, jobs in NGOs, journalism, mass media, the charity sector, and personnel management.
