The BA (Hons) History course at the University of Portsmouth allows students to delve into different cultures, countries, and periods to understand how past events have shaped the world today. This course enables students to develop their own opinions and challenge their known perspectives about the historical events and societies. Course Content: This three-year full-time course gives students the opportunity to learn about a wide range of historical subjects such as British imperialism and the Cold War. As a part of the course, students also have to complete a final year independent project on a topic of their choice. The course content combines doing original research tasks, group work, presentations, and practical sessions thereby allowing students to build transferable skills valued by employers. Key Modules: Some of the key modules that students will study throughout the tenure of the course include Society and Religion in Early Modern Europe, Peace and War: International Relations since 1900, Britain in the 20th century: A Social History, 20th-century USA, and History in the Media. In approach to the end of the course, students will undertake a dissertation on an individual research project of their interest.
