The Undergraduate BA (Hons) Architecture course offered at University of Portsmouth is designed to bring out students' creativity, whilst providing the skill set necessary to practice architecture professionally. The course covers major topics including design, history, theory and practice, whilst also integrating building and construction processes.Course Content: This course is divided into three stages, each with a different primary focus. In the first year, a foundation in architecture is laid out for students. This includes studies in architectural design coupled with architectural humanities and technology. The second year dives deeper into the specialisation, focusing on aspects like urban scales of Architecture and innovation in building technology. In the final year, students explore in-depth building design and professional practice along with their chosen field of architectural study.Key Modules: Some of the key modules of the course include Studio: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN, Studio: THEORY OF ARCHITECTURE, Architectural Technology & Environment, History of Architecture, Landscape & The City, Technology and Environment: detailed studies of buildings, Conservation & Regeneration in Context and Integrated Practice: Complex Buildings.Accreditations: The course has joint validation from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB). It also meets the RIBA/ARB Part 1 criteria for a final examination in architecture.Future Careers: After completion of the course, students can aspire to engage in various roles and sectors within architecture and construction. Potential jobs could include roles in architectural practice, interior design, planning, landscape architecture, property development and construction management.
